Sureshot’s Employment Services

Finding a job in Canada can be a big hurdle for a lot of potential newcomers. And even if you find a job you’d like to apply for, the application process for many jobs can be confusing. That’s why we’re pleased to offer our Canadian employment services.

A job offer from a Canadian employer can significantly increase your chance of being invited to apply for permanent residence. Under Express Entry, candidates with job offers can claim extra Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. A job offer is also an eligibility criteria for many Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) aligned with Express Entry.

Finding a Job in Canada

Candidates in the Express Entry pool have access to the Canada Job Bank. The Job Bank is one place where eligible Canadian employer can recruit foreign nationals. But it’s not the only place Canadian employers look for workers. There are a lot of other ways that employers advertise job openings. So it’s important to expand your search outside the Job Bank to increase your chances of finding a job. That said, finding a job posting that you’re interested in, and for which you are qualified, is only the first step in the Canadian hiring process.

Canadian Employment Advisor

As a Sureshot Express Entry client, you gain access to your own Canadian Employment Advisor (CEA). Your CEA will provide you with guidance and training through every step of your Canadian job hunt.

Building a Resume: The standards that Canadian employers expect from your resume may be different from your home country. Both the content and formatting of your resume should meet basic Canadian standards. But just meeting standards isn’t going to get you the job, you want your resume to make you stand out from the crowd. Your CEA will coach you through constructing your resume to ensure it meets Canadian standards, review it with you and identify any areas of improvement.

Take Advantage of Social Media: Social media platforms are not only great tools to use to build your professional network and search for jobs. Employers also often check out prospective employees’ public social media profiles. Having no social media presence, or having an inappropriate one, can seriously damage your employment opportunities. Learn how to take advantage of social media to benefit your job search.

Private Job Boards: You’ll also receive an introduction to the many private job boards that Canadian employers use to advertise positions. Learning about some of these sites, how to navigate them and how to post your resume on them can all help you connect with potential employers.
